Manuel Saez was invited to be part of the jury of prestigious designers for the 2008 Spark Design Awards, the top global design competition. The group of carefully selected jurors included Manuel Saez, Founder and Creative Director, manuelsaez ltd; Tania Aldous, Director Global Design, Whirlpool; Tom Dair, President, Smart Design; Marc Gobe, Emotional Branding; Ted Howes, Sustainability Lead, IDEO; Josh Morenstein, Design Director, Fuse Project; Jurist: Margeigh Novotny, VP, Strategy & Experience, MOTO Development Group; and Brent Oppenheimer, OH&CO.
Manuel Saez was hired by Wing Lung, a design and manufacturing company in China, to conduct two high profile seminars focused on training Chinese designers in western thinking in terms of design process. One of the seminars was an exploration about the question ‘Why we like the things we like?’, a rationalization of ‘beauty’.
ID magazine invited Manuel Saez to be a juror in the 2008 Annual Design Review, a showcase of design excellence that this year reviewed more than 2,000 designs from around the world. The entries were judged in eight categories by distinguished design professionals. Manuel Saez reviewed furniture entries along with Holly Hotchener , Museum of Arts and Design in NY; interior designer Maxwell Gillinghan-Ryan; and Christoper Mount, Parsons The New School for Design.
